Données sur le projet

This data aims to provide a comprehensive description of the geographic distribution of the genus of true limpets Nacella across its distribution in different provinces of the Southern Ocean. This data set was developed as part of the doctorate research, as well a several projects of the main researcher Dr. Claudio González-Wevar. The objectives is to publish records of the true limpet genus Nacella for public domain in order to contribute to the knowledge of marine biodiversity at higher latitudes.

Méthodes d'échantillonnage

Samples were collected from the intertidal and subtidal zones (1-5 m) at each locality by snorkeling. The samples were found on rocks, boulders, sand, or algae and were preserved in ethanol.

Etendue de l'étude Samples were collected in four localities of the Western Antarctic Region: Maher in Siple Island (-72,96667, -126,36667), Stonington (-68,18832, -66,99088), Sims (-73,28201, -78,54316), and the locality assigned as “E7” (-65,10436, -64,0492)

Description des étapes de la méthode:

  1. 1. Collection of specimens from the intertidal and subtidal zone by hand while snorkeling 2. Preservation in ethanol 3. Transportation to LAEGMAS lab for identification and other analysis
